Megan’s Monday Motivational Story

Tell us a bit about you and your dog

I am a 32 year old runner and have been running for about 6years and Mabel is my parents dog who is a springer cross poodle and started her canicross journey just under 12 months ago

Tell us about your canicross experience so far

From the first day I ran with Mabel she just got it and has always been super focused but lacked a bit of confidence at pulling in busy areas. I was introduced to rather be canicrossing very quickly by a member of my running club (Severn AC) and man we haven’t looked back. This is when Mabel really came into her own she wasn’t too fussed on saying hello to the other dogs but wow did she like running with them. She loves nothing more than running side by side and dragging me along with her and now our solo runs are just as perfect. She pulls from start to finish and I’m sure she’d carry on forever if she could.

Tell us about how canicross has helped you and your dog and your biggest achievements

Canicross has given Mabel a focus and a place to burn off energy, it’s certainly made her much more confident around dogs. We’ve entered our first race for December and I can’t wait. Its made me enjoy running so much more and I’m at my happiest out on the trails with Mabel. She’s given me the best experience to canicross and I’ll never look back now.

What are your goals and plans for the future?

So I have ended up with a London marathon ballot place so over the next 6 months I’m hoping to complete some of my long runs on the trails with Mabel. But ultimately I just want to carry on enjoying the trails with Mabel and meeting all the love people and dogs that the canicross group comes with.
