Hannah’s Monday Motivational Story

Tell us a bit about you and your dog/s

I’m Hannah I run a dog-walking business in Tewkesbury and I have 4 crazy canicross dogs!! 3 of which are rescues with various backgrounds.

Tell us a bit about your canicross experience so far…

I started canicross 9 years ago with my rescue border collie after being kicked out of most mainstream dog training classes for having a dog that was … a handful at canicross the bigger, louder and crazier your dog the better we were welcomed and fitted in straight away and have never looked back!

Tell us about how canicross has helped you and your dog/s and your biggest achievements

Canicross has given my rescue dogs a job to do, it gives them a safe way to exercise, socialises them with people and dogs in a safe and controlled way, and focuses energy into something more appropriate rather than the reason they ended up as rescues! In 2020 I bought my first puppy a purpose-bred sprint sled dog we have big aims and so far have placed quite high in some local fun races! We all took part in a three-day mountain event last year 42 km over 3 days, and placed 4th, 7th, 3rd and 10th in the 4 races!

What are your goals and plans for the future?

I hope to race Indi in a bikejor race when I’m brave enough and also enter the BSSF canicross races with her, I also hope to enter the TDM (10 races over 9 days) with two of my dogs in France next year!
