We have been asked by one of our friends (Andy Caress) to assist in an event in aid of the Mental Health Charity - The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust

Mental Health affects every walk of life and has no boundaries but we can fight it.

The Trust was set up in 1997 in memory of Charlie Waller, a young man who took his own life whilst suffering from depression. Shortly after his death, his family founded the Trust in order to educate young people on the importance of staying mentally well and how to do so.

The Trust aims to:

Equip young people to look after their mental well being

Help people to recognise the signs of depression in themselves and others so they know when to seek help

Ensure expert and evidence-based help is available when people need it

They do this by:

Delivering talks & training to young people and those who work with them about how to stay mentally well

Providing training for primary health care and other professionals in identifying and supporting those with depression

Providing self-help resources and training for universities and student-led organisations to promote resilience and mental wellbeing

Delivering talks and training on mental health in the workplace, to employees, employers and line managers

Supporting research and teaching in evidence-based therapies at the Charlie Waller Institute at the University of Reading

You can find out more about their work in the CWMT newsletter, published twice a year, and in the Annual Review.
They also publish free resources for parents, professionals and others interested in mental and emotional wellbeing

We have offered our services for free to provide a platform for the event he is running on the 8th September to have a virtual option.

How this will work:

1 - You pay for your entry via our website and we will reply to your entry as soon as we can with a number which you can use to identify your entry.

2 - You complete your race at a venue of your choosing, at the distance you choose, between the 8th & 10th September to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September (you can complete before but please don't post any results in the group until after the 8th September)

3 - Post your results (any screen shot from an app or photo of your watch) in our Facebook group K9 Trail Sports to prove you have completed your race

4 - We will send out your medal AFTER the event, so in the week following the real live race on the 8th September.

For more information about the charity please visit the website:

You can enter the race which is a 10km canicross race being held at Ogmore Vale Life Centre, Bridgend, South Wales CF32 7AJ here:

ENTRIES CLOSE EARLY! The medal you receive will be the same as the medal you will get if you enter the race in South Wales and for that reason we will be closing the entries to this virtual race the week before the event on Sunday 1st September, so please do get your entries in early.

We would also encourage you to really challenge yourself for this one and perhaps complete some extra fundraising which can be donated separately to the Trust, for more information on this and how to donate please visit:

Remember to join our group K9 Trail Sports for reminders about submitting information and to ask any questions you may have.
