As a team with her dogs, Emily has been placed in many National events, although her focus has been less about the racing in recent years – some of the highlights follow:

In the 2018/2019 season, Emily was awarded a CaniX National Ranking of 4th in the Female One Dog class with Yogi. They competed in but did not complete enough events to qualify for rankings in the BSSF or Canicross Midlands series, focusing on new events and longer distance challenges.

In the 2017/2018 season, Emily was awarded a BSSF National Ranking of 7th in the Elite Female Open Bikejor class with Donnie and 15th in the Elite Female Open Canicross with Yogi completing his second race ever! Emily was 2nd in the Canicross Midlands National Championship Series in the Open Female Bikejor class with Donnie. In addition to this Emily, with the help of Tegan, Judo and Donnie managed a national ranking of 12th in the CaniX two dog class and 26th in the Female One dog class.

In the 2016/2017 season, Emily was awarded a BSSF National Ranking of 4th in the Elite Female Open Bikejor class with Donnie and 9th in the Elite Female Open Canicross with Judo. Emily was 2nd in the Canicross Midlands National Championship Series in the Open Female Bikejor class with Donnie and came 3rd with Tegan & Judo in the Open Female Two Dog Canicross Class in the same Championship. The team also gained a national ranking of 11th in the CaniX two dog class championship.

In the 2015/2016 season, Emily gained a European Bikejor Ranking of 10th with Donnie in the Elite Female class and a European Ranking of 25th in the Elite Womens Canicross with Judo, taking part in the 17th European Canicross Federation Championships in Scotland.

Emily and Donnie also came 2nd in the Elite Womens Bikejor class at the Scottish National Championship and IFSS Championship Qualifier race, 2nd in the Canicross Midlands National Championship Series in the Open Female Bikejor class, and came 3rd with Judo in the Open Female Scooter class at the Checkendon Challenge Championship.

The team gained a national ranking of 11th in the CaniX two dog class championship.

The whole team also completed The Cotswold Way, a long-distance trail, split into 5 stages with each of the dogs completing different legs.

In the 2014/2015 season, Emily just missed out on a medal at the English National Championship races with Donnie after a tough start to the season following Donnie’s illness, coming 4th. They then went on to win the Canicross Midlands Championship Series in the Open Female Bikejor class and came 2nd with Judo in the Open Female Scooter class at the Checkendon Challenge Championship. The team also gained a national ranking of 14th in the CaniX two-dog class championship.

In the 2013/2014 season, Emily was placed second in both the English (BSSF) & Scottish (SDAS) National Championship races with Donnie in the Elite Female Open Bikejor class, won a Bronze Medal in the Cani-X National & International Championship with Donnie again in the Female Open Bikejor class and won the female scooter class at the Checkendon Challenge Championship with Donnie, Judo & Monty (a friends’ dog who stepped in when Donnie was ill).

In the 2012/2013 season, Emily won 3rd place in the Cani-X Open Female Bikejor Championship with Donnie, came 6th in the Female 2 Dog class with Tegan & Judo, and also gained a European Bikejor ranking of 11th with Donnie in the Elite Female Open Bikejor class and a European ranking of 29th in the Elite Womens Canicross with Judo, by taking part in the 15th European Canicross Federation Championships.

In the 2011/2012 Cani-X season Emily won the Cani-X National Championship in the Open Female Scooter class, again with Tegan & Judo, having taken up this alternative sport due to an ankle injury.

In the 2010/2011 Cani-X season Emily was runner up in the Cani-X National Championship in the Open Female 2 Dog class with Tegan & Judo.

Marc

The business backbone, Marc is a part-time competitor but full-time support member of the team and enjoys making sure the rest of the team are happy, healthy, and looked after. Marc enjoys bikejor, often checking out new courses for us in advance, competing when he can, and also ensuring our equipment is of the highest safety standards.

Tegan (Running Free)

The first canine member of the team and the original girl, Tegan was rescued in 2007 at a year old from a local dog sanctuary. Tegan was a husky cross collie and displayed character traits from both breeds. Being a strong natured female meant she was ‘top’ in the dog team and the boys did as she said! Tegan was wilful but fiercely loyal and was the steady endurance dog in the running team having covered 60 miles of the West Highland Way in 3 days with ease in 2011 then taking part in the Costwold Way challenge in 2016 at nearly 10 years old. Tegan retired from racing full time at the age of 11 years but she still enjoyed joining us on training runs and the occasional fun run until she left us in August 2019.

Judo

The original lean, mean pulling machine of the team, Judo was born to run and was rescued in 2008 as a 16 week old pup from a national dog rescue. Judo is a collie cross something (?) and is a gentle, quiet, and often nervous dog until you put him in a harness and then there’s nothing stopping him! Judo loves nothing more than running and is in his element as the lead dog in the team being very confident with voice commands and hand signals. However, he retired from running in harness at the age of 10 years and he still enjoys free running and still likes to lead from the front.

Donnie

The strongest and most energetic member of the team, Donnie was rescued in 2011 at 6 months old and his move to us was (we think) his 8th! Donnie has a cheeky character full of fun and games and is the lead bikejor dog. In 2014 Donnie was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease which we thought might end his racing in harness, but this little Sprollie’s (springer spaniel cross collie) strength and boundless energy means he still wants to tear around the bikejor racing courses and has continued to gain many National and European rankings. At 8.5 years old he can’t keep up with some of the longer legged breeds racing these days, we don’t tell him that though, he wins every time for us! 😉

Yogi

The most unusual looking dog of the team, Yogi was a rescue from 8 Below Husky Rescue and came to us as a pup in April 2017. Yogi was DNA tested in 2017 and it came back that he is 50% Husky, 25% Greyhound and 25% Saluki, making him what should be the perfect running companion! Yogi is still very much the baby of the pack although he started racing in 2018. We took things slowly with him as he’s easily distracted and is much bigger than the other team members, so he was allowed plenty of time to grow up and didn’t start any proper training in front of a bike until he was 18 months old. We’ve done a few competitions on the bike but not committed to any proper training, his main sport being canicross and we completed our first half marathon together in 2019.
